Our reports and corporate responsibility

Here we showcase research advances, commercial collaborations, start-up growth, financial accountability, and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We also champion responsible research through the UCL LEAF framework.

Our pillars of corporate responsibility

  • Governance responsibility: We will commit to open and transparent auditing and reporting, and ensure continued alignment of our work with patient benefit.
  • Environmental responsibility: We will promote sustainable and responsible use of our laboratories across the UK and minimise our negative impact on the environment.
  • Social responsibility: We will meet our obligations to our employees and partners by following fair and inclusive labour practices, conducting our business ethically, and supporting our community.

By encompassing people from different backgrounds and perspectives at all levels and fostering a culture of inclusion, we will make the greatest progress for people with cancer and their loved ones.

Our commitment to laboratory sustainability and efficiency

Laboratories are major contributors to plastic waste and energy consumption. To address this, we support the LEAF framework, a standard set by UCL to improve the sustainability and efficiency of laboratories. LEAF helps labs reduce waste, share resources, and cut energy usage, earning Bronze, Silver, or Gold levels based on their efforts.

Our goal is for all Cancer Research Horizons labs to achieve Gold LEAF accreditation by the end of 2024. To date, our sites have earned two Gold, four Silver, and one Bronze awards.

Gender and ethnicity pay gap report

Our gender and ethnicity pay gap report outlines what the gaps in our organisation are, and the actions we are taking to close them. As this is the first year we’ve reported our gender and ethnicity pay gaps, we know we have more work to do to understand what’s driving these gaps, and we are determined to make progress.

This report is just one step in our journey towards a more equitable organization.
