About Fredrik
Fredrik is a computational chemist with extensive expertise in applying molecular modelling, cheminformatics, and machine learning to drug discovery. He was awarded his PhD from Uppsala University, Sweden, before undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Swedish Pharmaceutical Society at the University of Cambridge, where he conducted cheminformatics research with Dr Andreas Bender. He subsequently moved into industry roles, applying computational methods to a wide range of drug discovery programmes. Throughout his career, he has published extensively on the application of machine learning in drug discovery, with particular expertise in predictive modelling and confidence estimation methodologies that support decision-making in pharmaceutical research.
At Cancer Research Horizons, Fredrik serves as Group Leader for Computational Chemistry, focused on applying cutting-edge computational approaches to support oncology drug discovery. Working closely with medicinal chemists, biologists, and data scientists, computational chemistry delivers molecular insights that inform compound design, target evaluation, and hit finding, helping to advance novel therapeutics towards the clinic.
