About Philip
Phil is the Translation Executive responsible for Newcastle University and part of the national Cancer Research Horizons Search and Evaluation team identifying and developing new technologies arising from Cancer Research UK funded research. Phil is one of the leads on translation activities involving biomarkers and medical devices with hands on experience in medical device development startups and regulated biofluid analysis for clinical service provision and real time patient monitoring.
At Newcastle, Phil looks after around 100 cancer scientists at the Newcastle Centre for Cancer as well as the highly successful Newcastle Drug Discovery group who have a strong track record in getting therapies to patients.
After spending five years in the pharmaceutical industry in drug development, Phil played a lead role in the laboratory analysis of CRUK’s phase I clinical trial portfolio for over a decade, before moving into business development and IP protection.
