About Tommy

Tommy is the Translation Lead overseeing Cancer Research Horizons' activities in Scotland and the North East of England. Tommy has broad experience of many aspects of business development, especially in the therapeutic space. He has led the full lifecycle of many therapeutic projects from identification through to commercialisation, and has hands-on experience in spin-out formation and the management of major industrial-academic alliances.

In recent years, Tommy has led the development of Cancer Research UK's childhood cancer therapeutic strategy and was one of the founders of the C-Further initiative, which aims to raise and deploy significant investment in childhood cancer therapeutics.

Prior to his career in business development, Tommy's research career was focused on the discovery of small molecule therapeutics for cancer, including playing a role in the team that discovered the DNA-PK inhibitor, AZD7648.
