Fast-tracking research into patient impact

Through advances in technology, we’re on the threshold of a golden age of scientific progress against cancer. Start-ups are one of the fastest ways of translating that progress into impact for patients.

But there’s a funding gap between cutting-edge academic cancer research and a start-up becoming ready for commercial investment. Too many potential treatments, devices and innovations are lost here.

We have an opportunity to deliver huge future impact for patients by supporting start-ups through this gap.  Which is why we committed £15m to a Seed Fund which accelerates high-potential, early-stage innovations into patient impact through seed funding, expert networks and business building support. Any financial returns generated are reinvested in the fund and into more cancer research.

We’re proud to be supporting Cancer Research UK’s work to help bridge the gap between discovery science and the clinic.

Supporting innovative cancer start-ups to succeed

With your support we could do so much more to grow the number and scale of our investments, and translate these innovations into real benefits for patients.

We're looking to double the impact of our Seed Fund commitment, through a total of £15m donations to our Cancer Impact Booster from visionary philanthropists who want to help us invest in the most innovative cancer start-ups.

To date, over £10m has been donated to the fund, boosting our mission to drive innovation forward, with just under £5m to go until we reach our target.
